Wolfram Workbench Now Compatible with Mathematica 6 for High-Throughput Software Development

July 17, 2007--Wolfram Research announced today the release of Wolfram Workbench 1.1, the latest version of its award-winning integrated development environment (IDE) for Mathematica technologies. Built on Eclipse, Workbench is ideal for all stages of the development process, enabling programmers to build, debug, and deploy state-of-the-art Mathematica applications more efficiently than ever before.

Now compatible with Mathematica 6, Workbench makes it easy to create innovative programs that take advantage of Mathematica's revolutionary capabilities for dynamic interactivity, high-impact adaptive visualization, data integration, and more.

Key features include support for Mathematica development projects, a specialized Mathematica code editor, syntax coloring, error and warning reporting, debugging, profiling, unit testing, support for gridMathematica and webMathematica, and many more features that complement Mathematica's own high-level programming language.

Workbench 1.1 adds:

  • Version Migration Assistant to help users optimize their Mathematica 5.2 code for Mathematica 6
  • Intelligent Mathematica expression and code-structure search
  • Pattern find/replace for all Mathematica expressions
  • New user-definable code warnings and automatic error fixing
  • Export wizards for instant project deployment
  • Extended testing system and Expression Comparator
  • Support for J/Link project launching and debugging
  • Outline for navigating GUIKit source code
  • New Mathematica Development Perspective
