Uses and Examples of System Modeler
Develop realistic models and digital twins for any industry with System Modeler. Core built-in components and custom libraries can represent elements and processes in any domain. Download a trial to experiment with the dynamic models yourself.
Air Conditioning: Effect of Building Orientation
Which building properties affect the energy spent in air conditioning? This example uses data from 768 diverse residential buildings to predict their air conditioning’s thermal load by training a neural network. Connect this net with thermal modeling components to study the effect of building orientation.
Buck-Boost Converter
Buck-boost converters are used both to step up voltage from a lower level to a higher level and to step down voltage from a higher level to a lower level. Buck-boost converters can be found in applications where the supply voltage changes over time, such as battery-powered applications.
Connecting Systems with OPC
The OPC Classic Library allows you to connect your simulation models to the real world using Open Platform Communication (OPC). Here, you will connect a process plant model and a real-world Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) in System Modeler to allow them to communicate with each other through OPC.
Hydraulic Motor
Hydraulic motors, or rotary actuators, convert fluid power to rotary motion. They are rated according to displacement, torque capability, speed, and maximum pressure limitations. Here, you can study how two of these variables relate by looking at the effect of displacement on motor speed.
Optimize Startup of Drum Boiler
The demand for rapid changes in power generation is increasing and thus leading to a requirement for the quick start of boilers. However, one has to be careful to not heat a boiler too rapidly, as it might lead to material failures. This example uses a nonlinear boiler model that captures the key dynamical properties.
UPS Reliability
An Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is used to protect electrical devices such as computers from power failures, when the main power fails. This example models both the physical behavior and the reliability of a UPS, conclusions can be drawn about both the switching behavior and the system reliability.
